PORTLAND, ME -- (Marketwired) -- 04/10/13 -- The Bank of Maine today announced that it has surpassed the 1,000 mobile deposit customer mark. Mobile deposit banking allows personal and small business customers to deposit checks in real time from anywhere, simply by taking a picture of the check with a smartphone or other mobile device.
"We're proud to be the first Maine community bank to offer mobile deposit banking. We want to make it easy for our customers to manage their money from any location," said John W. Everets, Chairman of The Bank of Maine. "We are delighted to provide our customers with convenience, ease of use and a great value; with mobile deposit, and free ATM usage across the United States, we're delivering on our promise."
Mobile deposit is part of The Bank of Maine's mobile solutions portfolio. It works on Apple® or Android® smartphones or tablets. Subscribers to this service endorse the check, snap a picture of the front and back of the check using their mobile device, then submit for deposit. Customers will then get a confirmation number and email. There is no monthly fee or minimum deposit required to use The Bank of Maine's mobile deposit service. The service is free to The Bank of Maine's online banking customers.
"We're committed to providing our customers with the most advanced and secure banking technologies available," said Stephen Ballou, Chief Technology Officer of The Bank of Maine. "Mobile deposit banking complements the wide array of mobile banking offerings we provide to help our customers manage their finances."
