Deegan, last year's series runner-up, is one of the sport's many drivers who has seen success in multiple racing series. Unfortunately, he's double-booked on the weekend of May 19, and the choice isn't easy.
On one hand, Deegan can continue his pursuit of the off-road championship by heading out to Lake Elsinore, California. On the other, he can join Global Rallycross in Spain, competing in the inaugural X Games event in Barcelona.
"The General" has already won four off-road championships in multiple classes in the past four years. He also took victories in two different classes at Lake Elsinore last year. Simply put, he's accomplished just about everything there is to accomplish already in a short off-road career.
But what makes Deegan such a successful driver is his constant desire to move on to, and conquer, the next challenge. While he's taken X Games gold before, a Global Rallycross title continues to elude him; last season, though the battle came down to the final event in Las Vegas, Deegan couldn't unseat OlsbergsMSE teammate Tanner Foust atop the championship standings. Several other rivals will be waiting for Deegan in Barcelona including Travis Pastrana, Ken Block, Liam Doran and Scott Speed.
To his fans, the choice is clear: Deegan has more unfinished business in rally.
