MINNEAPOLIS, May21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Cummins Power Generation Inc., a division of Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI), has announced that Power Suite 5.0, the latest Web-based version of its application for sizing and applying on-site power systems, has attracted more than 10,000 registered users in just 10 months since it was launched in August 2012.
On the same day that Power Suite registered its 10,000th user, the program was named the most popular sizing software by Consulting-Specifying Engineer (CSE) magazine readers. It won first place in an online poll by CSE (www.csemag.com). Fully 65 percent of respondents said that they use Cummins Power Suite as their tool of choice.
"We are so pleased that our tool has been accepted as the industry standard by our customers," said Colette Weiser, Power Suite program leader. "This means that it meets their needs of providing comprehensive and trusted recommendations, data and documentation for specifying Cummins' power systems. We are also working on further enhancing the current functionality and developing new value-add tools."
New and Enhanced Capabilities
In version 5.0, Power Suite delivers real-time updates on product and performance data. The application allows users to collaborate with other Power Suite users on projects, so that the entire project team - consulting-specifying engineers, distributors, contractors, application engineers and others - has the most up-to-date project information. Multiple language settings include English, Chinese, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
Enhanced Power Suite 5.0 capabilities include a step-by-step sizing process that follows an intuitive project-building flow. Templates and default parameters are available for the most common kinds of modern electrical loads. An expanded help section takes users of all experience levels through sizing a project.
Power Suite 5.0 consists of three components: GenSize', the Transfer Products Selector tool and the Power Suite Library. GenSize, the generator-sizing tool, gives users a recommended product for the project, instantaneously, after users simply enter the project parameters. The Transfer Products Selector tool recommends a Cummins Power Generation transfer switch to meet the needs of the project, delivering a complete power system from a single-source provider. Both GenSize and the Transfer Products Selector tool are integrated with the Library, allowing users direct access to relevant product documentation.
