MINNEAPOLIS, MN and ST. PAUL, MN -- (Marketwired) -- 06/06/13 -- Financial professionals from all over the Twin Cities area took time away from the office today to help fight hunger, feed families of ill children, beautify parks, spruce up living quarters for victims of domestic violence and much more.
Over 200 employees from BMO Harris Bank and BMO Private Bank spent the better part of a day helping 11 not-for-profits in the Twin Cities area through donation of time and caring. In addition to serving at various locations around the city, employees were given several "remote" activities to provide volunteer opportunities for employees who for one reason or another cannot participate in person. Included in the remote activities are making blankets for Portico Interfaith Housing Collaborative and assembling kits for new residents of Aeon housing.
"Each year, BMO employees look forward to participating in non-profit projects and helping improve the quality of life in the communities where we live and work," said Dave Lindstrom, Regional Retail Banking Leader, BMO Harris Bank. "We are committed to supporting our community through the giving of our employees' time and talents year-round, and BMO Volunteer Day is just another demonstration of that commitment."
Launched in 2001, BMO Volunteer Day has grown to include approximately 5,600 employees participating in more than 470 projects in communities across the U.S. and Canada, including activities to benefit children and youth organizations, elder care, food banks, community housing, health care facilities, family resource centers, parks and recreational facilities, military personnel, relief organizations and homeless shelters.
