NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 06/29/13 -- Passport Premiere has detected an 11% increase in business class around the world fares with One World from the Euro Zone. Simultaneously, around the world business class fares originated in Japan have fallen 17% in 2013. Momentum for around the word offshore originations has now shifted from Europe to Japan.
On June 1st, 2013 One World raised its three continent business class around the world fare for travel originating in the Euro Zone from $7,470 to $8,291. Around the world fares from the Euro Zone were last increased in November, 2010. Carriers are attempting to close the disparity in fares between the U.S. and Euro Zone. The same three continent business class ticket type originated in the U.S. currently starts at $10,199+taxes. Carriers are monitoring Euro/USD currency movements prior to initiating further fare hikes. Any weakening of the Euro against the USD could offset these recent fare hikes for purchasers originating outside of the Euro Zone.
In Asia, Japan has suddenly become an around the world hotspot thanks to the Yen's 20% slide against the U.S. dollar. In June, 2012 the three continent business class around the world fare started at $8,430 + taxes for travel originating in Japan. The same ticket type today sells for $6,715 + taxes. Japan currently offers premium cabin travelers outstanding value for around the world ticket origination. By comparison, the same ticket type originated in Thailand currently sells for $9,768 + taxes and $10,658 + taxes from China.
