EINDHOVEN, THE NETHERLANDS -- (Marketwired) -- 06/30/13 -- Intrinsic-ID today announced that Intrinsic-ID's "Hardware Intrinsic Security" (HIS) technology has been licensed to Panasonic Corporation System LSI Business Division for their SoC product. HIS is also referred to as Physical Unclonable Function (PUF). HIS technology is based on a very innovative way to protect critical secrets in an IC by extracting them from the electronic fingerprint of the chip.
This SoC product enables a solution for a very high level of protection of important data such as 4k x 2k high quality video content. This security solution can also be applied for any other application like medical cloud, mobile payment, and machine to machine authentication.
HIS technology allows a firm binding of differentiating software from Panasonic System LSI and/or from Panasonic System LSI's OEM customers to the embedded application chips and prevents cloning of the systems by the highest level of anti-tamper and reverse engineering protection on the market.
In addition, HIS provides a flexible key management/personalization and life cycle management system that substantially simplifies the implementation and distribution of mobile security applications.
"In the connected world we see many new emerging applications that need a better protection of mobile transactions and the privacy of individuals" said Pim Tuyls, CEO at Intrinsic-ID. "Our HIS technology with its flexible key management enables Panasonic System LSI with a unique competitive edge of top-level security to further enhance their leadership position."
"We are excited to work with Intrinsic-ID to create a new usage model based by developing SoCs with enhanced security," said Noriaki Kubo, Director at Panasonic Corporation System LSI Business Division.
