LOS ANGELES, July 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- After taking home the win in the latest season of the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars," Southern Girl Desserts is inviting the community to come and share the sweet taste of success with an Oscars-themed celebration on Saturday, July 20 at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw. Owners Catarah Hampshire and Shoneji Robison are also celebrating the upcoming premiere of "LA Sugar" on E! Network, July 30th at 9pm. The show follows Southern Girl Desserts and three other high profile LA bakers as they cater everything from wildly extravagant kids' parties to star-studded red carpet premieres.
The fun will begin at 12pm on Saturday with a red carpet experience, where the first to arrive can pose with Southern Girl Desserts owners and their celebrity guests. The first 50 attendees will also receive free chicken & waffle cupcakes, which helped the bakery clinch the title of "Cupcake Wars" champions. Red velvet cupcakes will also be offered for just $1 during the event.
The winning "Cupcake Wars" episode, originally aired on the Food Network on June 23, will be looped on a big screen TV throughout the afternoon.
Considered the first and only southern-inspired dessert company in Los Angeles, Southern Girl Desserts was founded in 2007 and is best known for its unique cupcake flavors, along with the best of the South's cakes, pies, cookies, pudding and cobblers. The bakery also specializes in custom cake designs including wedding cakes as well as dessert and candy tables for special occasions.
