NEW YORK, July 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --NYC-based startup Locket, which raised half million dollars in funding led by Warby Parker and StubHub investor, Great Oaks Venture Capital, is announcing their public launch today. Locket is an Android application that delivers ads on smartphone lock screens and pays users for unlocking their phone. Each time a user wakes up the phone, instead of the Android default lock screen, a full-screen advertisement is displayed. Users swipe right to go to their home screen or swipe left to learn more about the ad. Either way, they get paid. Earnings can accumulate up to hundreds of dollars per year depending on how often users check their phone.

"We glance at our phones, on average, 150 times per day," said Yunha Kim, co-founder and CEO of Locket, "which is why we believe the smartphone lock screen is the most valuable unused real estate in advertising."
Locket allows brands to connect with consumers every time they first glance at their phone, when users are free of distractions from competing content. The benefit to the users is that they get paid for simply unlocking their phone - something they do all the time anyway.
"The beauty of high quality print ads has been lost in the world of mobile advertising. Locket allows users to see beautiful ads from the brands they love, at a glance," said Christopher Crawford, the co-founder of Locket. "We call it 'First Glance Advertising'."
Locket is backed by prominent leaders in the mobile advertising and entertainment industries. Brian Wong, the co-founder and CEO of Kiip, has recently joined the Locket team as an advisor. For its beta launch, Locket has partnered with a number of Fortune 500 companies to advertise on Locket's platform.
As of today, Locket is available to download for Android on the Google Play Store, which can be found here.
