BIRMINGHAM, Ala., July 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Alabama-based Big Communications was named Small Agency of the Year Southeast at the AdAge Small Agency Conference & Awards. This honor comes to Big after a pivotal year that includes several major brand launches, a new office, significant employee growth and a record number of ADDY award wins. Big is the first Alabama agency to be honored at the AdAge Small Agency Awards.
"Being named Small Agency of the Year Southeast by one of the most respected voices in the advertising industry is an exciting and rewarding milestone for Big," said President John Montgomery. "I started Big 18 years ago with just a laptop and a desk, and from the beginning I worked to surround myself with people who weren't afraid of big ideas. It has been an honor to see those ideas come to life over the years, and this award belongs to every team member and every client who has been willing to think big with us."
Big was founded by Montgomery in 1995. Seasoned advertising executive Ford Wiles joined the agency as partner and Chief Creative Officer in 2008. Since that time, the company has quadrupled, adding an interactive department, in-house video production, and a digital content arm of its PR division along the way. Big now employs a full-time staff of 44 in its downtown Birmingham office.
Wiles said, "Our goal has been to create a culture where creativity thrives and people inspire each other. It's that culture of creativity that has allowed us to do some impressive things and that continually challenges us to set higher goals. To say I am proud is an understatement. We have a special group of people that are destined to do great things."
Big was recognized for its work over the last year, including the launch of the Alabama Gulf Seafood campaign; the design of the 50 Years Forward logo and website highlighting Birmingham's commemoration of the Civil Rights Movement; the Made in Alabama campaign for the Alabama Department of Commerce; the design and promotion of theIN App for the Greater Birmingham CVB; and the award-winning iChooseB campaign for Brookwood Medical Center.
