WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Eastman Chemical Company (EMN) reported that its second-quarter earnings per share from continuing operations increased to $1.69 from $1.26 last year. Earnings per share from continuing operations, excluding items, was $1.80 for the quarter.
On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit of $1.64 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Sales revenue rose to $2.44 billion, from $1.85 billion last tyear. The company noted that its second-quarter 2013 included sales revenue from the acquired Solutia businesses. Pro forma combined sales revenue increased 3 percent due to higher sales volume across most segments, the company said. Analysts expected revenue of $2.39 billion for the quarter.
