WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - United States Steel Corp. (X) Monday reported second-quarter loss of $78 million or $0.54 per share, compared to a profit of $101 million or $0.62 per share in the same period last year.
On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.79 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Sales dropped to $4.43 billion from $5.02 billion last year. Analysts expected revenues of $4.61 billion.
