REDMOND, Wash., Aug. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Univar Inc., a leading global chemical distributor, announced today that it has named George Makar as its new Regional Vice President for EMEA Oil & Gas. Makar will be based in Abu Dhabi, UAE and will report directly to Univar's Global Oil & Gas Industry President, Chris Oversby.

Makar's appointment marks Univar's continued focus on expanding its presence in the oil and gas sector. He has more than 30 years of oilfield and senior management experience including work in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and South East Asia.In his new role at Univar, Makar is responsible for building Univar's Oil & Gas capabilities and growing business throughout the Middle East and the rest of Europe and Asia.

Prior to joining Univar, Makar served as Regional Vice President for Clariant. At Clariant, he increased the company's presence in the Middle East market and built significant year- over- year increases in sales, profitability, and market share.
