To enhance the planned successful inaugural lifestyle event, Barrett-Jackson partnered with the producers of the upcoming movie, Snake & Mongoose to showcase the iconic Hot Wheels Yellow and Red Haulers and the 'Cuda and Duster Funny Cars raced by legendary drag racers Don "The Snake" Prudhomme and Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen. This display was the first time these cars had been together outside of California in 40 years and was the first of many stops during a U.S. tour, which will include a display at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas September 26-28, 2013, and ultimately leading up to the cars crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson's monumental 43rd annual Scottsdale Auction January 12-16, 2014.
The producers of the movie also hosted a star-studded, red carpet premiere of the movie at the Century Sierra Summit in Reno. Don "the Snake" Prudhomme attended the premiere as well as other stars from the movie including Richard Blake who plays Tom "the Mongoose" McEwen, Gilligan Gibbons, Billy Gibbon's wife, and Nikki Leigh, Playboy's Miss May 2012.
Keeping in line with Barrett-Jackson's philanthropic efforts, the auction house helped to raise $620,000 for national charitable organizations bringing the total amount raised to-date to more than $55.9 million. Two charitable vehicles were sold during the auction, including the first 2014 Cadillac CTS V-Sport 4 Door Sedan (Lot #3001), which sold on Friday for $120,000 and benefitted the SAE Foundation.
