WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Board of Directors of United States Steel Corp. (X) Friday said Mario Longhias, President and COO, will succeed John Surma, as the company's Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1.
The Board has also elected David Burritt as its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Gretchen Haggerty who is retiring effective August 31.
Burritt previously served as CFO and VP of global finance and strategic services for Caterpillar Inc. Prior to that he was a staff auditor at Price Waterhouse.
Surma will retain the position of executive chairman through December 31 when he will retire from the company and from the board of directors.
Additionally, the company also said that James Garraux, General Counsel and Senior Vice President Corporate Affairs has informed the company of his plan to retire by the end of 2013.
