HARRISBURG,Pa., Sept. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett released a statement today in response to the Senate unanimously voting House Bill 108, which reauthorizes Pennsylvania's Children's Health Insurance Program, out of the chamber.
Corbett stated:
"I commend the Senate for their swift action to reauthorize the CHIP program by approving House Bill 108 and including language to eliminate the six-month waiting period that will allow for timelier access to benefits for new CHIP participants.
Their actions today move the commonwealth one step closer to achieving my Healthy Pennsylvania goal of insuring all children in Pennsylvania.
We look forward to working with the House for a concurrence vote in the near future."
Corbett's 2013-14 budget commits $8.5 million for enrollment and outreach efforts for the Children's Health Insurance Program.
Pennsylvania's CHIP program provides a robust array of health insurance benefits and covers all of Pennsylvania's uninsured children who do not qualify for Medicaid or other insurance programs.
