SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct.10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --ChemicoMays LLC, a leading provider of chemical management solutions, announced today that president and CEO Leon C. Richardson recently received the Diamond Award from the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC). The award, presented during the MMSDC's 30th Annual Awards event, goes each year to the minority business owner who exemplifies the spirit of minority entrepreneurs conducting business with other minority business enterprises (MBEs).
The evening also included Richardson accepting on his company's behalf the Minority Supplier of the Year award. This year's recognition of Supplier of the Year marks the second time the MMSDC has honored ChemicoMays in this manner, and Richardson's Diamond Award is his third such acknowledgement.
"Being honored in this way one time by such an important organization is truly special," Richardson said. "But to be recognized multiple times gives us confirmation as a company that the way we go about our business is being noticed. Our focus has always been about delivering quality products and services to our clients and making a positive impact in the community. And to the extent that this recognition gives credence to that mission, we are very grateful."
This year's acknowledgements from MMSDC add to the extensive list of awards that ChemicoMays has received in 2013. In addition to the MMSDC awards, the company was recognized for the fourth consecutive year as a General Motors Supplier of the Year recipient, and was awarded Toyota's Kaizen Award in its first year of operation with Toyota.
More than 600 business leaders gathered at Detroit's Fox Theatre for MMSDC's 30th Annual Awards ceremony. The event celebrated business partnerships between majority-owned corporations and MBEs. All nominees for the awards presentation were independently evaluated and the winning business leaders and companies were not revealed until the evening of the event.
