WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - C. R. Bard Inc. (BCR) reported a third-quarter net income of $93.2 million or $1.15 per share, compared to $129.3 million or $1.50 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
Adjusted net income was $122.3 million, or $1.50 per share, down from $141.4 million, or $1.64 per share in the year-ago period.
Net sales in the latest third quarter were $758.00 million, up 3 percent from $722.90 million in the prior-year period. Excluding the impact of foreign exchange, second quarter 2013 net sales increased 6 percent over the prior-year period.
On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit of $1.40 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items. Analysts expected revenue of $739.62 million for the quarter.
