WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Teradyne Inc. (TER) Wednesday reported third-quarter profit of $69.46 million or $0.29 per share, down from $88.64 million or $0.39 per share in the same period last year.
Adjusted earnings for the quarter was $95.0 million or $0.46 per share. On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.44 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenues decreased to $433.38 million from $463.40 million last year. Analysts expected revenues of $444.80 million.
Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, the company has forecast earnings in the range of $0.04 to $0.08 per share, with adjusted earnings ranging between $0 and $0.07 per share.
Revenues are expected to be in the order of $260 million to $285 million. Analysts currently expect the company to report fourth-quarter earnings of $0.22 per share on revenues of $342.23 million.
