HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 11/23/13 -- The rain couldn't stop the athletes and artists from turning downtown Houston into their playground haven last night at Red Bull Urban Rhythm. Hucker and GONZO247's collaboration to create a one-of-a-kind street art BMX track came to life as the athletes took to riding the course after the storm. The crew of athletes and builders came together to clear the water from the track after the rain affected the features. Sweat and hard work paid off as the team was able to dry the course off and make it safe again to ride. The clouds parted just in time as an excited local crowd packed in to celebrate street art and BMX on a Friday night in east downtown.
"It was great to see the local Houston crowd come out and celebrate both BMX and art with us," said athlete Hucker Clark. "The rain tried to hold us back, but in the end, we all came together for an amazing time and had a lot of fun riding the course."
Local artist GONZO247 and BMX athlete Hucker Clark created an unexpected, street art styled dirt track in the heart of Houston's urban landscape. GONZO247 brought out a lineup of over twenty talented artists including Anat Ronen, VurseOne and Deck, who transformed the venue into a work of collective art. Invited athletes Aaron Ross, Coco Zurita, Drew Bezanson, Mikey Aitken, Morgan Wade, Rob Wise and Tyler Fernengel joined Hucker on the BMX playground, sending big tricks up to two stories high to delight the crowd who bared the cold weather to watch the action.
"BMX and street art have never been showcased this way in Houston," said artist GONZO247. "The idea 'there is potential in everything' celebrates that artists and athletes can come together to recognize that they both take something and craft their own thrill-seeking sport or art form."

About Mike 'Hucker' Clark
BMX dirt phenom Mike Clark received the nickname 'Hucker' from launching the biggest dirt jumps at age 12, and it stuck. Hucker recently was awarded #1 Dirt Rider of the Year at the 2013 NORA Cup Awards this past weekend in Austin, TX, a repeat winner holding the same title in 2012. Becoming the first BMX rider to land a double backflip at the Dew Tour, Hucker is known for going big and enjoying it as much as possible. His ideal playground is both fun and functional, taking everyday finds from the streets and turning their potential into a unique course that combines both dirt and street BMX elements.
