According to the Department of Agriculture 18 million Americans households will struggle to feed their families
DENVER, Nov. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - PCL Construction is donating $140,000 to food assistance programs across the country to help with Thanksgivingneeds.
"There is a persistent and unfortunate demand for food across the country and throughout the communities where PCL operates," said Shaun Yancey, President and COO for PCL's US operations. "We recognize the value of supporting food banks locally, and we are very pleased to give back to the communities in which we build. That's why we continue to support this vital cause."
In 2009, PCL Construction enacted its US Food Bank Initiative enabling the company's 14 operating locations to donate $10,000 each year to local food banks of their choice.
This year, PCL has contributed to food bank agencies in Atlanta, Bakersfield, Denver, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Orlando, Phoenix, Raleigh, San Diego, Seattle, and Tampa for a collective donation of $140,000 nationwide.
PCL has given a total of $728,000 over the last five years to food banks across the US, providing approximately 6.5 million meals to those in need. In addition to monetary donations, several PCL employees have also volunteered their time to assist with sorting and organizing incoming food donations.
