Barrett-Jackson Recognized by Guinness World Records

Finanznachrichten News

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --Barrett-Jackson, "The World's Greatest Collector Car Auctions"', announced today that Barrett-Jackson and Classic Party Rentals were recognized by Guinness World Records for two records. Barrett-Jackson's GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® achievements were verified on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, for "Largest Marquee" - 435,656.95 square feet - and "Largest Single-Unit Marquee" - 351,210.33 square feet. Barrett-Jackson just concluded their 43rd auction at the new auction site, which was held Jan. 12-19 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Barrett-Jackson's all-new auction facility is nearly 1 million square feet of everything automotive. The assembled temporary tents exceeded the previous records for "Largest Marquee" by approximately 247,307 square feet and "Largest Single-Unit Marquee" by 124,415 square feet. The former world record holder was a marquee covering an area of 188,350 sq. feet and was erected by the firm of Deuter from Augsburg, West Germany for the 1958 Welcome Expo in Brussels, Belgium.

"As The World's Greatest Collector Car Auctions', it is fitting that we conclude our record-breaking Scottsdale auction with two Guinness World Records," said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. "The marquee is a key aspect of our auction event at WestWorld and allows for us to stage the blue chip vehicles headed for the block. Barrett-Jackson excels at legendary auction experiences and we designed our site at the new WestWorld facility to exceed the expectations of our celebrities, top car aficionados and collectors year after year. Barrett-Jackson appreciates the partnership we have with the City of Scottsdale and WestWorld."

A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS representative was onsite and presented the two records to Craig Jackson and Steve Davis on the block during the Saturday, January 18th afternoon auction coverage presented on the National Geographic Channel.

"Each year people ask if we can make it bigger and better," added Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson. "This year we definitely raised the bar. The facility is unbelievable and Barrett-Jackson's new home is true to the Barrett-Jackson name. As the world's leading collector car auction, we strive to make each event more exhilarating than the previous year, offering something new every year".
