WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - IDEX Corp. (IEX) Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $68 million or $0.82 per share, compared to a loss of $119.02 million or $1.45 per share in the same period last year.
On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.80 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Sales increased to $520.62 million from $490.84 million last year. Analysts expected sales of $520.23 million.
Looking ahead, the company has forecast first-quarter earnings in the range of $0.83 to $0.85 per share. Analysts currently expect first-quarter earnings of $0.81 per share.
