WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Crown Holdings, Inc. (CCK) reported fourth-quarter net income attributable to company of $49 million, compared to $31 million, last year. Income per share was $0.36, compared to $0.21, prior year. Income before income taxes was $79 million, compared to $81 million, a year ago. Net income per share before certain items was $0.48, for the quarter.
On average, 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.49 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net sales grew to $2.07 billion, from $2.04 billion, prior year, primarily due to increased global beverage can volumes and $15 million from the impact of foreign currency translation, partially offset by decreased food can volumes. Analysts expected revenue of $2.09 billion for the quarter.
