CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - Australia will release a batch of data on Thursday, highlighting a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic activity. On tap are December figures for trade balance and retail sales, as well as Q4 numbers for business confidence from NAB.
Australia saw a trade deficit of A$118 million in November, while retail sales were up a seasonally adjusted 0.7 percent on month. The business confidence index saw a score of 3 in the third quarter.
Japan will release January data for Tokyo office vacancies; in December, vacancies were up 7.3 percent on year.
The central bank in the Philippines will conclude its monetary policy meeting and then announce its decision on interest rates. The bank is widely expected to keep rates on hold at 3.50 percent.
Finally, markets in New Zealand and China are closed on Thursday for Waitangi Day and the Lunar New Year, respectively. Both will re-open on Friday.
