PROVIDENCE, RI -- (Marketwired) -- 04/07/14 -- AgileQR, Inc. dba 121nexus officially launched its new technology, MDDTrack at the DEMO Enterprise Conference at the Bay Mission Conference Center in San Francisco on April 3. MDDTrack is patented track and trace solution for the medical device industry. The solution helps manufacturers comply with new Unique Device Identification regulations for medical devices from the FDA and to better manage product recalls. Foster Sayers, CEO and Co-Founder and Albert Ho, CTO and Co-Founder presented the demo to the attendees and the viewers around the world watching the live stream of the event. 121nexus was one of 26 companies that were invited to present at DEMO Enterprise.
121nexus has built a solution that assigns a unique URL or website to each medical device, leveraging the ability of the web to provide information in a variety of formats and keeping it up to date. The URL is deployed as a printed URL and corresponding QR code on the device packaging. A healthcare professional can scan the code to get product information, such as instructions for use, and to see any real-time safety notifications.
"Today healthcare professionals don't have the means to know if a product is under recall at the time of surgery," said Sayers. "Making MDDTrack a new standard will ensure that a product under recall at the time of surgery is never again implanted in a patient."
The company was the recipient of a Phase I NSF SBIR grant and is pursuing a Phase II application to support the commercialization of MDDTrack.
