MassMutual Promotes Dennis Stempel to Senior Vice President and General Auditor

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) announced today that Dennis Stempel has been promoted to Senior Vice President and General Auditor.

In his role, Mr. Stempel will lead the Corporate Audit group at MassMutual, overseeing the monitoring, analyzing and reliability of business processes and internal controls throughout the company's domestic and international businesses. He will report functionally to the Chair of the company's Audit Committee, and administratively to Mark Roellig, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of MassMutual.

"Dennis brings outstanding leadership capabilities, integrity, and financial and business expertise to this position - all of which will further strengthen our efforts across the Corporate Audit function," said Mr. Roellig.

A 25-year industry professional, Mr. Stempel has held several senior financial and operational leadership positions within MassMutual since joining the company in 2008, including MML Investor Services, LLC - the company's broker dealer - Policyholder & Investor Relations and, most recently, head of Life and Individual Disability Income New Business & Underwriting. He replaces Keith McDonagh, Senior Vice President, who was recently appointed as head of Finance for the company's Retirement Services division.

Mr. Stempel began his career in 1989 with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). He has also served in financial and auditing roles with Anocoil Corp, the Pratt & Whitney division of United Technologies Corp., Telaxis Communications and The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Mr. Stempel also served in both the U.S. Air Force and the Massachusetts Air National Guard. He resides in Agawam, Mass.
