WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Abaxis Inc. (ABAX) posted fourth-quarter net income of $3.7 million, or $0.17 per share, compared to $6.7 million or $0.30 per share in the prior year quarter.
Income from operations for the quarter declined to $5.8 million or $0.26 per share from $9.0 million or $0.40 per share in the year-ago period.
Total revenues for the latest fourth quarter declined to $42.04 million from $49.95 million in the comparable quarter last year.
On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.19 per share on revenues of $45.74 million. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Abaxis announced that its Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.10 per common share to be paid on June 17, 2014, to all shareholders of record as of the close of business on June 3, 2014.
