CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - The Reserve Bank of Australia will on Tuesday conclude its monetary policy meeting and then announce its decision on interest rates, highlighting a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic activity.
The RBA is widely expected to keep its benchmark interest rate steady at 2.50 percent.
Australia also will see March numbers for imports, exports and trade balance. In February, imports were worth A$28.77 billion and exports were at A$29.97 billion for a trade surplus of A$1.20 billion.
The Philippines will release March numbers for producer prices and April data for consumer prices. Producer prices were up 0.7 percent on month and down 0.4 percent on year in February. Consumer prices are expected to add 0.6 percent on month and 4.1 percent on year after gaining 0.1 percent on month and 4.0 percent on year in March.
Finally, the stock markets in Hong Kong and Japan are closed on Tuesday for Buddha's birthday and Greenery Day, respectively. They will re-open on Wednesday.
