CONCORD, N.C., May 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Charlotte Motor Speedway - Wind Creek Casino and Hotel Wetumpka (WCW), Alabama's newest deluxe hotel and casino, and its sister property, Creek Casino Montgomery (CCM), today announced a major sponsorship of Friday's night race lineup for Atlanta Motor Speedway's NASCAR Labor Day race weekend event.
With their significant level of participation in the event, WCW, Atlanta's closest casino, and CCM, Montgomery's own "hometown casino" now become the official casinos for NASCAR's Sprint Cup new "knockout qualifying" event. The "knockout qualifying" is an integral part of the weekend's lineup as it determines pole position for AMS's main racing event.
WCW and CCM are also sponsoring the Sprint Car Shootout that is held after the qualifying event. The Sprint Car Shootout is a wildly popular event among racing fans. The cars are uniquely designed with stabilizing wings. At Atlanta Motor Speedway, these cars can reach speeds in excess of 100mph.
The announcement, made just after noon at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, is the first major racing sponsorship undertaken by Wind Creek Hospitality.
Jay Dorris, President of Wind Creek Hospitality noted, "NASCAR is an important part of our culture here. Whether you are an avid racing fan now, or just grew up hearing about the 'Alabama Gang,' NASCAR is part of our lives, an incredibly exciting sport, and great entertainment. We are thrilled to partner with the Atlanta Motor Speedway on this Sprint Cup series event."
Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) officials said the partnership will provide a strong connection between one of NASCAR's most popular venues and the deluxe Wind Creek Wetumpka Casino and Hotel; the closest casino to Atlanta.
"We are fortunate to be able to be very selective when it comes to choosing sponsors," remarked Greg Walter, AMS's Vice President of Sales. He continued, "Wind Creek Wetumpka Casino and Hotel is a beautiful property close to Atlanta that values delivering a great customer experience. Our shared commitment to excellence and entertainment makes us natural partners."
As part of its sponsorship agreement, the WCW and CCM brands will have prominent placement at the Atlanta track and in the AMS advertising.
Additionally, customers of Wind Creek Wetumpka Casino and Hotel and Creek Casino Montgomery will have the opportunity to win coveted access to the Labor Day weekend events at the Speedway including tickets to the Qualifying/Pole Night, Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series race, and Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. There will also be opportunities for WCW and CCM customers to win cold and hot pit garage passes, Victory Lane spaces, entry to a deluxe hospitality tent, and chances to play in the popular Reed Sorenson Golf Classic with proceeds benefitting Speedway Children's Charities.
"We know our customers will love being part of this great NASCAR weekend in Atlanta, and we think Atlanta Motor Speedway's NASCAR fans will really enjoy making the short drive to see us in Alabama," said WCW General Manager Cody Williamson. "It is a win for us and our customers and for the Atlanta Motor Speedway and its loyal fan base."
Jake Carlton, General Manager of Creek Casino Montgomery noted, "We always like to provide our customers with exciting entertainment, and we know they will be thrilled to have a chance to win a great Labor Day weekend experience at the Atlanta Motor Speedway."
