CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/12/14 -- Global Petroleum Show (GPS) 2014, one of the world's largest energy events, has come to a close after welcoming a record 66,000 visitors to Stampede Park from June 10-12, 2014. Over the three days local and international visitors participated in networking events, industry presentations and world-class exhibits.
GPS 2014 marked the first year the event will be held on an annual basis. The overwhelming success of this year's show further affirms the demand for an annual opportunity to network and conduct business face-to-face in Canada. In addition to breaking attendance records, GPS encompassed a greater range of countries represented, delivered more than 150 free presentations on industry business and technical topics, and hosted exhibiting companies across more square feet than ever before.
"The annualization of GPS allows us to showcase emerging oil and gas technology on a yearly basis, providing attendees direct access to the most current innovations as they are developed," says Wes Scott, Executive Vice President of dmg :: events, organizers of Global Petroleum Show. "Similarly, the calibre of our visitors and delegates offers an unparalleled platform for business transactions, as indicated by exhibitor space already being at 80% capacity for 2015."
Key highlights of GPS 2014 included:
-- Energy Leaders Breakfast - The Energy Leaders Breakfast brought together eminent leaders, decision makers, innovators, policy makers and thought leaders to explore the shifting trends and dynamics of global energy. The sold out event included an address from the Honourable Cal Dallas, Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations. -- International Energy Capital Forum - New for 2014, this conference, held in conjunction with GPS, brought together the investment community with small-to-medium oil & gas companies looking to expand their business through capital investment and emerging markets. Moving forward this will be an annual event held during GPS. -- GPS Rodeo - This action-packed night of bull riding and live rodeo entertainment also featured a 50/50 draw, resulting in a $10,000 donation to benefit Ronald McDonald House.
