CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - Japan will on Monday announce preliminary May figures for industrial production, headlining a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic activity.
Output is expected to add 1.0 percent on month and 2.8 percent on year after dipping 2.8 percent on month and rising 3.8 percent on year in April.
Japan also will see May figures for housing starts and construction orders, as well as June results for its small business confidence survey. In April, housing starts were down 3.3 percent on year, while construction orders surged 104.9 percent. The small business confidence survey in May came in with a score of 46.6.
Australia will release May data for new home sales and private sector credit. In April, home sales added 2.9 percent on month, while private sector credit gained 0.5 percent on month and 4.6 percent on year.
New Zealand will see June results for the activity outlook from ANZ and the business confidence survey from NBNZ; in May, they were at 51.0 and 53.5, respectively.
Thailand will release May numbers for imports, exports and trade balance. In April, imports were worth $16.53 billion and exports were at 17.09 billion for a trade surplus of $0.56 billion.
Malaysia will see May figures for producer prices; in April, PPI was down 0.5 percent on month and up 3.5 percent on year.
