WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Crown Holdings, Inc. (CCK) reported second-quarter net income attributable to company of $106 million compared to $133 million in the second quarter last year. Income per share was $0.76 compared to $0.93, a year ago. Net income per share before certain items was $1.01 for the quarter.
On average, 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.99 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net sales grew to $2.38 billion compared to $2.22 billion, primarily due to the impact of the Mivisa acquisition and increased global beverage can unit sales, the company said. Analysts expected revenue of $2.37 billion for the quarter.
