SAN JOSE (dpa-AFX) - Programmable chip maker Altera Corp (ALTR) Thursday reported second-quarter net earnings of $127.0 million or $0.41 per share, compared with $101.5 million or $0.31 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
Revenues for the quarter were $491.52 million, up 17% from $421.76 million in the prior year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.37 per share on revenues of $480.65 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
For the third quarter, Altera expect sequential sales growth of -2 percent to +2 percent.
Further, Altera said its board of directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.18 per share, to be paid on September 2, 2014 to shareholders of record on August 11, 2014.
