WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - ResMed Inc. (RMD) reported fourth-quarter net income of $87.7 million, or $0.61 per share, compared to $73.0 million or $0.50 per share, last year. The company noted that its results for the quarter ended June 30, 2014 were impacted by a $6.3 million ($4.2 million, net of tax) expense for restructuring charges relating to employee termination benefits associated with the reorganization of commercial and research and development teams. Non-GAAP net income was $92.0 million, or $0.64 per share, for the quarter.
On average, eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.66 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenue was $415.2 million, compared to $414.6 million, prior year. Revenue was down 1 percent on a constant currency basis. Analysts expected revenue of $433.69 million for the quarter.
The ResMed board has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.28 per share, which represents a 12 percent increase from the previous quarterly dividend of $0.25.
