EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/19/14 -- FIRMA Foreign Exchange was named the winner of a Silver Stevie® Award in the Company of the Year - Financial Services category in The 11th Annual International Business Awards.
The International Business Awards are the world's premier business awards program. All individuals and organizations worldwide - public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small - are eligible to submit nominations. The 2014 IBAs received entries from more than 60 nations and territories.
More than 3,500 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Company of the Year, Website of the Year, Best New Product or Service of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year, and Executive of the Year, among others. FIRMA Foreign Exchange won silver in the Company of the Year category for Financial Services.
FIRMA believes their team is not full of employees - it is full of people. Without their people, their company could not exist, let alone thrive. Providing a real, personal experience for clients starts with creating a positive environment within FIRMA and recognizing each individual's contribution to the success of the company.
Mr. Dave Dominy, Chief Executive Officer for FIRMA Foreign Exchange said: "We are delighted to receive our first Stevie Award, particularly in light of the size and geographic scope of the competition. The Silver Stevie recognizes our ongoing evolution as a world class provider of foreign exchange and payments solutions to companies around the world. Thanks to the IBA for awarding such a prestigious honor to FIRMA and our 212 FIRMAtes around the world!"
Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 250 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process from May through early August. Judges were asked to score the achievements portrayed in each entry based on (a) their own experience, and (b) their understanding of how organizations in the nominee's industry performed in the eligibility timeframe, given the condition of the economy in general and the nominee's industry in particular. Ratings are done on a scale of 1 - 10 and the company with the highest average rating receives Gold.
"We congratulate all of the Stevie winners in this year's IBAs," said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards. "The quality of entries we receive improves every year. This year's judges were rewarded with the opportunity to review more than 3,500 stories of business achievement and innovation from around the world. We look forward to celebrating the winners' achievements in Paris on 10 October."
