CUPERTINO (dpa-AFX) - Apple Inc. (AAPL) announced it has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices may suddenly experience shorter battery life. The affected iPhone 5 devices were sold between September 2012 and January 2013 and fall within a limited serial number range.
Apple said its customers can use the serial number checker in the company website to check whether the device is eligible for the battery replacement program. The replacement process is currently available in the U.S. and China. In other countries, the program will be available as of August 29, 2014.
