CHINO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/15/14 -- Niutang Chemical, the leading producer of Sucralose and Aspartame from China, confirmed that, even with the current changes and challenges in the marketplace, Niutang is strongly positioned to be the "supplier of choice" in the high intensity sweetener industry. The company's commitment to a long-term strategy for sustainability and global growth allows Niutang to be a steady, reliable partner to its customers.
Aspartame
Niutang has been manufacturing Aspartame for more than 20 years. The company is currently the largest Aspartame producer in China and remains one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of Aspartame in the world.
"Since the time our company started in 1969, the strategy at Niutang has been to take a long-term approach to our business," said Licheng Wang Jr., General Manager of Changzhou Niutang. "This strategy allows us to not only focus on current conditions, but also to understand changes that may occur down the road and be prepared for them. For example, if a competitor suddenly exits this segment, we are ready and able to meet the needs of customers with high quality Aspartame at a competitive price."
Niutang's investments in technology allow the company to manage Aspartame cost initiatives and quality control. The company's 2013 expansion of its L-Phenylalanine state-of-the-art manufacturing facility allows it to better control raw material costs and maintain a stable supply of high quality L-Phenylalanine for Aspartame production.
Sucralose
Niutang is China's largest Sucralose producer. The company has expanded its state-of-the-art Sucralose facilities four times since 1994, making it one of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of Sucralose with a current capacity of 1500 metric tons. The company also has plans in place to expand its facilities by 1500 metric tons to meet additional demand when necessary.
"The current state of the Sucralose marketplace has many low-cost suppliers entering the industry for short-term gain," said Mr. Wang. "That has never been our approach and is not a sustainable business model. Our track record of expansion and technological upgrades across the last 10 years demonstrates our commitment to long-term success, not only for ourselves, but also for our customers."
In recent years, Niutang has expanded its product offering beyond Aspartame and Sucralose. The company now has strategic alliances with producers of synergistic products, such as Ace-K and Erythritol and has recently developed a partnership with one of the most highly reputable Stevia (Reb-A) producers in China.
"Our outlook in sweeteners continues to be encouraging," said Nancy Hughes, Vice President Sales and Marketing, US Niutang. "As changes occur, we adapt to the market needs, just as our customers have come to expect from us."
In addition to its success in the high intensity sweeteners market, sales of Niutang TGIC, the company's only powdered coating in its product portfolio, increased by more than 30 percent in 2014.
Quality, Sustainability
Niutang's commitment to quality and sustainability is infused throughout the company, from the products manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities in China to the customer service provided in strategically located offices in the US and Europe.
Niutang believes in sustainability, not only as an established, long-term business partner, but also as an environmentally responsible corporation. Niutang built an on-site wastewater treatment facility, recognized as one of the best in the industry, well before the Chinese government established environmental sustainability requirements. Niutang recently invested an additional $4 million to upgrade its facilities to the highest environmental level, supporting its goal to be recognized as one of the most sustainable manufacturers in the industry.
The company's proactive stance on environmental sustainability also makes good business sense. Niutang Folic Acid is currently in short supply as other Chinese Folic Acid manufacturers have been forced to shut down due to environmental issues.
"Having a global reach with offices throughout the world, offering a full array of sweeteners of the highest quality at competitive prices and maintaining a business model focused on sustainability -- these are the elements that best serve the long-term needs of our customers and position Niutang as a 'supplier of choice'," said Mr. Wang. "That is our focus and always will be the Niutang way."
