NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP (dpa-AFX) - Allstate Corp. (ALL) reported third quarter net income of $750 million or $1.74 per share, compared to $310 million or $0.66 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Operating income for the third quarter was $598 million or $1.39 per share, compared to $713 million or $1.53 per share in the same period last year.
Revenue for the third quarter rose to $8.94 billion from $8.47 billion a year ago.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.33 per share on revenue of $7.78 billion for the third quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
