WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Assurant Inc. (AIZ), a premier provider of specialty insurance and insurance-related products and services, reported that its third-quarter net income increased to $140.30 million or $1.92 per share from $128.79 million or $1.68 per share, last year. Net operating income was $132.7 million, or $1.82 per share, for the quarter.
On average, eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $1.57 for the quarter. Analysts estimates' typically exclude special items.
Net earned premiums were $2.26 billion, compared to $1.95 billion, a year ago. Total revenues were $2.70 billion, compared to $2.26 billion. Analysts expected revenue of $2.53 billion for the quarter.
