VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/17/14 -- North American Nickel Inc. (TSX VENTURE: NAN) (OTCBB: WSCRF) (CUSIP:65704T 108) (the "Company") is pleased to report final assays and significant new intersections from the Imiak Hill Complex ("IHC") at the Company's 100% owned Maniitsoq Nickel - Copper - Cobalt and PGM project in southwest Greenland. These assay results complete the reporting for the 2014 drilling program.
Highlights include:
-- MQ-14-072 (Imiak Hill, Zone 10): 16.35 metres of 2.51% Ni and 0.77% Cu including: -- 6.55% Ni, 0.83% Cu and 0.22% Co over 2.05 metres; and -- 3.14% Ni and 1.05% Cu over 6.35 metres. -- MQ-14-073 (Mikissoq): 61.35 metres of 0.63% Ni and 0.18% Cu including: -- 1.79% Ni and 0.54% Cu over 2.6 metres; and -- 1.27% Ni and 0.27% Cu over 4.6 metres; and -- 1.59% Ni and 0.22% over 6.56 metres.
NAN President and Interim CEO, Mark Fedikow, commented: "I am pleased to report the last two holes from our 2014 drilling program have returned exciting nickel assays at the IHC, confirming the high grade nature of two parallel mineralized zones at Imiak Hill and confirming the northeast and open plunge of the shallow nickel sulphide mineralization at Mikissoq.
The company is now conducting QEMSCAN metallurgical studies from various nickel sulphide prospects along the Greenland Norite Belt ("GNB") within the Maniitsoq Project. This new study will provide results for prospective regional mineralization, thus building upon the excellent metallurgical properties identified in the first QEMSCAN analysis of IHC samples (see March 14, 2014 News Release). Results are expected in early 2015.
This has been an exceptional year for the Company at Maniitsoq. We outlined nickel mineralization throughout the property and continue to expand our geological knowledge and refine our exploration methodologies. 2015 promises to be an exciting year with drilling planned at both the IHC and the regional prospects."
IMIAK HILL COMPLEX (IHC)
In 2014, a total of seventeen holes and one deepened hole, totalling 5,048 metres, were completed to test for extensions of the mineralization intersected in previous drilling at Imiak Hill, Mikissoq and Spotty Hill.
Results for the final two drill holes, MQ-14-072 at Imiak Hill and MQ-14-073 at Mikissoq, are reported below and provided in Tables 1 and 2 and Figures 1 through 3. Figures may be viewed using the link provided with this release.
Imiak Hill
Seven holes totaling 2,445 metres were completed to test for extensions of the high grade Zone 30 and Zone 10 mineralization at Imiak Hill. Six of these holes were previously reported.
MQ-14-072 was drilled to test a high conductance borehole electromagnetic (BHEM) anomaly interpreted to correlate with the down plunge extension of Zone 10. Zone 10 is situated parallel to and immediately to the east of Zone 30. MQ-14-072 intersected high grade semi-massive and massive sulphide mineralization belonging to both zones 10 and 30:
-- Zone 10: 16.35 metres of 2.51% Ni, 0.77% Cu and 0.08% Co from 173.75 to 190.10 metres including: -- 6.55% Ni, 0.83% Cu and 0.22% Co over 2.05 metres from 173.75 to 175.80 metres; -- 3.14% Ni, 1.05% Cu and 0.10% Co over 6.35 metres from 179.90 to 186.25 metres -- Zone 30: 1.75 metres of 3.01% Ni, 2.80% Cu and 0.11% Co from 202.75 to 204.50 metres
The results from MQ-14-072 have confirmed the continuity of Zone 10 mineralization between historical hole IM-9 which intersected 9.85 metres of 2.67% Ni and 0.60% Cu from 141.25 to 151.10 metres and MQ-14-037 which intersected 11.03 metres of 3.07% Ni and 0.53% Cu from 220.51 to 231.54 metres (see August 20, 2014 News Release). Mineralization in both zones 10 and 30 is observed to increase in grade with depth. However, drilling in 2014 has identified a mylonite zone which has truncated and displaced both zones at a depth of approximately 210 metres below surface (see Figure 2).
Mikissoq
Three holes totaling 546 metres were completed to test for extensions of the mineralization intersected at Mikissoq in 2012 and 2013. Two of these holes were previously reported.
MQ-14-073 was positioned to confirm the plunge orientation of the Mikissoq mineralization based on a steep northeast plunge (see Figure 3). This hole intersected a wide zone of norite-hosted disseminated sulphides including intervals of net-textured to semi-massive sulphide. Assay results for this mineralization are summarized in Table 1 and include the following highlights:
-- 61.35 metres of 0.63% Ni and 0.18% Cu from 57.75 to 119.10 metres including: -- 1.79% Ni and 0.54% Cu over 2.6 metres from 72.1 to 74.7 metres; -- 1.27% Ni and 0.27% Cu over 4.6 metres from 89.5 to 94.1 metres; and -- 1.59% Ni and 0.22% Cu over 6.56 metres from 112.54 to 119.10 metres.
Borehole EM surveys completed in holes MQ-14-063 and MQ-14-073 detected build-ups off the ends of both holes, indicating the nickel sulphide mineralization is open in a down plunge direction. The modelled EM plates will be used to help target further down plunge drilling at Mikissoq in 2015.
Quality Control
Drill core assay results are evaluated as part of a Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedure that includes the use of matrix matched multi-element, certified standards with known precious and base metal values and blank standards to determine accuracy and precision of analytical results. Core sample analysis was completed by SGS Laboratories of Vancouver, Canada. Three methods of analysis were used to determine element concentrations in the rock samples submitted to SGS. These were 1. A multi-element scan subsequent to a four-acid digestion and ICP/ICP-AES finish; 2. Au, Pt and Pd lead fire assay on a 30 gram sample with ICP-AES finish; and 3. Samples with greater than 1.00% Ni or Cu were re-analyzed by Sodium Peroxide Fusion ICP-AES calibrated for ore grade detection limits.

About North American Nickel
North American Nickel is a mineral exploration company with 100% owned properties in Maniitsoq, Greenland and Sudbury, Ontario.
The Maniitsoq property in Greenland is a Camp scale project comprising 3,601 square km covering numerous high-grade nickel-copper sulphide occurrences associated with norite and other mafic-ultramafic intrusions of the Greenland Norite Belt (GNB). The greater than 75km-long belt is situated along, and near, the southwest coast of Greenland, which is pack ice free year round.
The Post Creek/Halcyon property in Sudbury is strategically located adjacent to the past producing Podolsky copper-nickel-platinum group metal deposit of KGHM International Ltd. The property lies along the extension of the Whistle Offset dyke structure. Such geological structures host major Ni-Cu-PGM deposits and producing mines within the Sudbury Camp.
