CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 12/06/14 -- Calgary Social Media Breakfast (SMByyc) is pleased to announce the December 2014 Event:
Celebrate the Toy Drive Close with Special Guest Buck Shot!
This year Melrose, 101.5 FM Kool FM, The Peak 95.3 FM and Northland Kia are partnering to spread the spirit of Christmas by running a toy drive to help local charity, The Magic of Christmas.
Donation not required to attend - please help SMByyc as we join Melrose as they CLOSE their Christmas toy drive.
If you have not yet donated to this worthy charity this is your last chance to bring a present and enter the draw. If you are wondering what kind of present - they charity is short of gifts for teens, older kids and adults.
As an added bonus, each individual who donates to this campaign will be awarded a ballot and entered into the Melrose & Molson Canadian Giving Tree promotion.
On Sunday, Dec.14th at this event, Melrose will draw names and 40 lucky contestants that donated a gift during the toy drive (Nov.21st thru Dec.14th) will receive Christmas Dinner for 2 and a chance to pick 1 of 40 items from the giving tree. 1 lucky winner will get a 1 year lease on a Kia Soul EX for 2015 (some stipulations apply).
The Magic of Christmas is a local charity that works with the City of Calgary's social services and the Calgary Police Service to ensure that children living in despair are not left out during Christmas. Every Christmas Eve, the Magic of Christmas staff load up Calgary Transit buses with toys and they drive across the city to visit homes and hospital rooms to bring joy to children's lives.

Special Guest - Buck Shot
Saturday, November 15th, Calgary Sun posted an article written by Michael Platt about the retirement of this Calgary icon.
"You can't have 16 chickens and no tambourine.
Calgarians will know what that means - at least, those Calgarians who grew up here between the years 1967 and 1997, when a friendly cowboy and a ragged bear named Benny were considered cutting-edge children's entertainment.
For those who remember, suffice it to say that Benny the Bear is leaving town, and Buck Shot and Benny are finally retiring as a duo more than 50 years after Ron Barge and puppeteer Jim Lewis first suited up for the cameras at CFCN television.
"It is the end of an era, and it's a pretty emotional thing - it's going to be pretty hard to get through it," said Barge, better known as Buck Shot."
