"Hosting international sport events like the 2014 FIL Viessmann Luge World Cup provides our athletes with an opportunity to compete against the world's best on home soil. Hosting World Cup competitions provides an outstanding window to promote Canada and our athletes, while providing a helping hand to the local economy."
-Rob Anders, Member of Parliament (Calgary West)
"The Government of Canada leads the way in driving podium performances through its support of medal-potential athletes and also by helping national sport organizations host international events on Canadian snow and ice. Having the ability to host a World Cup at home not only provides a competitive advantage for our elite athletes, but also offers additional international race experience for the nation's next generation of Olympians. We simply could not achieve these goals without the Government of Canada's support."
