SUNNYVALE (dpa-AFX) - Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) reported a net loss for the fourth quarter of $364 million or $0.47 per share, compared to net income of $89 million or $0.12 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted net income for the fourth quarter was $2 million or breakeven per share, compared to $45 million or $0.06 per share in the prior year quarter.
Revenue for the fourth quarter fell 22% to $1.24 billion from $1.59 billion a year ago.
Analysts polled by Thomson Ruters expected the company to earn $0.01 per share on revenue of $1.24 billion for the fourth quarter. Analysts' estimates typicaally exclude special items.
Looking forward, AMD expects first quarter revenue to decrease 15%, plus or minus 3%, sequentially.
