MEMPHIS, TN--(Marketwired - February 02, 2015) - On Saturday, April 18, 2015, the first Wedding Dress Ball' will be unveiled at Propcellar Vintage Rentals in Memphis, TN. A celebration of romance, timeless fashion, and happily ever after, the party is a chance for brides to wear their wedding dress again while raising funds for a great cause.
Event founder Brittney Andres-Rossi of Over Easy Events dreamed up the Wedding Dress Ball at a table of friends during -- where else? -- a wedding. She explains: "We were admiring the bride's dress, but of course began talking about our own: the designer, the style, the tiniest details. We all went on and on about these dresses that we'd never wear again. And I said, 'Well, why shouldn't we?'"
The Wedding Dress Ball will be an elegant, festive affair in Propcellar's recently renovated, loft-like showroom warehouse, next to the Broad Avenue Arts District. A twist on traditional themed parties and galas, wedding dresses and tuxes are encouraged, while former brides are urged to flaunt the styles they nixed the first time around. Everyone is welcome -- married couples and anyone looking to get dressed to the nines -- and encouraged to wear the piece they thought banished to the closet, be it a wedding gown, bridesmaid dress, ball gown or family heirloom.
Maggie Louise Bridal Boutique, the premier bridal shopping experience in Memphis, is sponsoring the event. The Collierville store sells bridal jewelry, headpieces, veils, sashes, and other accessories for women wanting to put a new spin on their favorite frock. Owner Molly Farrell will host trunk shows and sample sales leading up to the Wedding Dress Ball, and have gowns on display at the event. For brides who donated, lost, trashed, or grew out of their dress, Farrell can order a new dress from select designers in time for the party, and is offering limited sample dresses available off the rack.
Under the coordination of Over Easy Events, the Wedding Dress Ball will feature local vendors with a fresh, modern vision. Everbloom Designs has created festive, tropical-inspired floral designs. CFY Catering will serve colorless cocktails (no white-dress stains) and passed hors d'oeuvres. Baltic Studios Calligraphy, from Maryville, TN, will hand-letter anniversary "tattoos" with henna on-site. Other wedding-inspired activities include mad lib vow renewals and a photo booth for "bridal party" posed photos.
Tickets go on sale February 1, 2015 at midnight, just in time for Valentine's Day. They can be purchased at www.weddingdressball.org and on Eventbrite at www.weddingdressball.eventbrite.com. Tickets are $75 per person until March 16, and $100 thereafter. Tickets are limited.
Net proceeds from the event will go to St. Mary's Soup Kitchen, the oldest continuously operating soup kitchen in the country. In 2014, the Soup Kitchen served over 90,000 meals to the poor and homeless in downtown Memphis.
