WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - FirstEnergy Corp. (FE) reported a fourth-quarter loss from continuing operations of $306 million or $0.73 per share, compared to profit of $142 million or $0.34 per share, prior year. Operating earnings per basic share was $0.80, for the quarter.
On average, 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.76 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenue decreased to $3.48 billion from $3.63 billion last year. Analysts expected revenue of $3.95 billion for the quarter.
For 2015, the company expects operating earnings per basic share, excluding special items, in the range of $2.40-$2.70. Analysts expect the company to report fiscal 2015 earnings per share of $2.79.
For first-quarter of 2015, the company expects operating earnings per basic share, excluding special items, in the range of $0.51-$0.59. Analysts expect the company to report first-quarter earnings per share of $0.42.
