SIMCOE, ON -- (Marketwired) -- 04/20/15 -- Increased production efficiencies, the newest varieties that are turning heads, and how LEDs will soon change Canadian greenhouses are three topics in this year's Greenhouse Canada webinar series.
Each session is free of charge, thanks to webinar sponsorships. Pre-registration, however, is required.
The webinars will bring leading industry specialists "into" greenhouse offices via the Internet with timely information to help viewers grow better and/or increase sales opportunities.
Each webinar will feature a 45-minute presentation beginning at 2 p.m. EST, followed by a question-and-answer session of about 15 minutes.
Editor Dave Harrison is moderator.
The series debuts on April 30 with a presentation on how "Lean" production principles are being applied to greenhouse horticulture. Dale Schattenkirk, president/CEO of Lean Six and a renowned authority on "Lean" processes, is making the presentation.
The next two sessions include:
- June 25: "California Spring Trials Standouts," presented by veteran industry consultant -- and longtime Greenhouse Canada writer -- Melhem Sawaya. What varieties will be next year's market winners? What's new in plant marketing? What should you be adding to your plant list for increased sales?
- Sept. 17: "LEDs in Greenhouse Crop Production: What Do We Know" will be presented by leading lighting researcher Dr. Youbin Zheng of the University of Guelph and Vineland Research and Innovation Centre. How are LEDs currently being used and what is the latest research? How can they improve your production?
