NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP (dpa-AFX) - Allstate Corp. (ALL) reported net income for the first quarter of $648 million or $1.53 per share, compared to $587 million or $1.30 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Operating earnings for the first quarter were $616 million or $1.46 per share, compared to $588 million or $1.30 per share in the prior year quarter.
Revenue for the first quarter rose 3.1% to $8.95 billion from $8.68 billion a year ago.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.44 per share on revenue of $7.32 billion for the first quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
