VISTA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/06/15 -- With all the changes in the healthcare industry, it is hard to remember the heart of healthcare: the patient. Greater Tri Cities IPA Medical Group (GTCIPA) in Vista, California recently launched a Community Health Education Campaign. By offering health education classes every other month, GTCIPA hopes to empower individuals to own their health.
Health classes are free and open to the public. Topics range from knowing the preventive services covered at no cost under the Affordable Care Act, to nutrition and reading labels, to knowing when to go to urgent care versus the ER. Classes are offered every other month at their management office in Vista, California. Erika Collier, LVN Nurse Case Manager for GTCIPA, explains, "Healthcare, especially HMOs, is a very confusing arena. We are trying to provide patients in the community information to make informed decisions, to promote health by empowering individuals."
Join GTCIPA on the 14th of May at 4pm for the upcoming health class on Understanding Prescriptions & Qualifying for Extra Help. The class will cover not only the importance of setting a routine and taking medications regularly, but preventing interactions, communicating side effects, and an overview of programs that can assist with high prescription costs. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP today at (760) 732-0272. Refreshments will be provided, and all attendees receive a pill box and medication record keeper for attending.
