DENVER, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/20/15 -- CannaCon®, the nation's largest cannabis industry marketplace for products, services, and ideas, lands in Denver June 11-13 at the Colorado Convention Center. After two successful shows in Washington, it's CannaCon's first conference in the Mile High City. It will draw visitors and businesses from all over the country to exhibit, network, negotiate, pitch and invest.
The February show in Seattle drew 11,000 attendees to 200 exhibitors. Organizers reported that networking yielded more than $6 million worth of business deals closed and countless partnerships cemented. Most importantly, those deals didn't involve a seed, cannabis plant or infused cannabis product.
"We're dedicated to improving the overall quality of the cannabis industry by creating a smarter and more informed marketplace," said Bob Smart, CannaCon CEO and owner. "We achieve this by bringing together buyers and sellers to educate themselves and transact business."
With the rapid growth of the industry -- 23 states now have legal medical marijuana and four more have full adult-use cannabis legalization -- the Denver CannaCon is expected to be the largest yet.
CannaCon organizers anticipate drawing more than 200 exhibitors to 100,000 square feet of exhibit space. About 30 educational seminars will cover business topics including: sales tracking, inventory, marketing, best grow practices, efficient nutrient use, OSHA compliance, taxes and overcoming banking challenges. Sponsors include venture groups, testing labs, nutrient companies, industry publications, and others.
"Cannabusiness" owners, and ancillary companies that support the industry, will join entrepreneurs, investors, and community partners to showcase industry products, talent and innovations. They'll cultivate business values within the cannabis industry through education and responsible community involvement.
The Colorado community involvement will be a donation to the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado with proceeds raised from the inaugural charity golf tournament June 10 at Plum Creek Golf & Country Club in Castle Rock.
Smart started CannaCon in Tacoma after identifying a need for a conference that was designed by, for, and about cannabis businesses. With a background in organizing large trade shows, Smart likens CannaCon to a home & garden show.
"In a relatively new and rapidly changing industry, there's a real need for clarity," Smart said. "Our passionate interest is in helping create an informed, smarter and more productive marketplace."
