Any hotel near the United Center in Chicago knows how to have fun and entertain. This summer Marriott is using their expertise to make a difference with their "Give Kids The World Corn Hole Fundraiser," sponsored by Marriott Chicago at Medical District/UIC. This exciting event will benefit the Give Kids The World Village by providing the necessary funds for village renovations including updating family housing, creating fun and safe outdoor activity areas, and whimsical attractions such as the Ice Cream for Breakfast House where they serve -- you guessed it -- ice cream for breakfast!
Registration for the event is $80 per team and the winning team takes home a $500 purse. All participants will receive complimentary beer from 12PM until 4PM and a raffle ticket. Raffle tickets can also be purchased during the event and prizes include hotel gift certificates from across the US, game tickets, restaurant gift certificates, prize baskets, rounds of golf, and more!
The tournament begins at Noon, with participant and sponsor registration beginning at 11AM. Sign up is at the registration desk in the lobby of the Marriott Chicago hotel near US Cellular Field. Various event sponsors will join us through the day for more prizes and give-a-ways.
"This is our 10th year raising funds for Give Kids The World Village. Sometimes this village is the best lasting memory these families have of time spent together. Sometimes this village is the last push of strength and inspiration these kids need to get better. Davidson Hotels & Resorts and Marriott are proud to be a part of that," said Camille Garcia, Director of Sales for Marriott Chicago at Medical District/UIC. "With a little help from our neighborhood, guests, and team members, we can raise $6500 this year that will pool into all of the funds raised by Davidson Hotels and Resorts and that can really make a difference for these families that really need just a little hope right now."
Throughout the event, food and beverage specials will be overflowing at one of the best restaurants near UIC - Rooks Corner & Lounge. Winning team will be announced at the end of the tournament.
About DoJiggy
The story of Give Kids The World begins in 1986 with a little girl with a wish and the desire of one man to make that wish come true. The little girl's name was Amy. Amy had leukemia and one wish -- to visit the theme parks in Orlando. To facilitate Amy's wish, the request of a complimentary stay was made to a respected hotelier. As he had done many times before, the hotelier gladly obliged and Amy's wish was that much closer to being realized. Sadly, the remainder of Amy's travel plans took too long to arrange and her wish was never granted; Amy had passed away. Time simply ran out. This unfulfilled wish inspired a man, the hotelier, to make a vow that no child in need would ever be failed again. That man was Henri Landwirth and his desire to ensure that Amy's story would never repeat itself is where the story of Give Kids The World begins.
Today the Village is a 70-acre resort complete with 140 villa accommodations, entertainment attractions, whimsical venues, and fun specifically designed for children with special needs. In 2011, Give Kids The World celebrated its 25th Anniversary with the grand opening of two new Village Venues -- the Star Tower and the Gallery of Hope. In 2014, Give Kids The World
experienced a milestone when 88 villas were renovated in two weeks as part of the Extreme Village Makeover. With the help of many generous individuals, corporations and partnering wish granting organizations, Give Kids The World has welcomed more than 135,000 families from all 50 states and 75 countries.
